RADIOHEAD: IN RAINBOWS
In a separate exploratory project, a speculative redesign was developed for In Rainbows (Disk 1 and Disk 2), reinterpreting the iconic release through a more personal and tactile lens. The concept remained grounded in the visual language of its original era, preserving the raw, experimental spirit of the album while introducing subtle, contemporary refinements.
Custom imagery was created using the designer’s own X-rays, adding an intimate and almost anatomical layer of depth that echoes the album’s emotional transparency. This was paired with hand-lettered typography to bring in texture and imperfection, reinforcing a human touch and creating a balance between digital polish and analog authenticity.
To fully encapsulate the project, a suite of tour-inspired merchandise was developed to extend the album’s identity into a tangible, fan-centered experience. This included apparel, wristbands, VIP access passes, stickers, and other collectible items, each designed to feel authentic to the era while reinforcing the project’s tactile, handcrafted aesthetic. Together, these pieces helped translate the visual and emotional tone of In Rainbows into a cohesive, immersive system that lives beyond the music itself.
To properly close out the project and fully ground it in the band’s era, it needed a dedicated space to live—leading to the creation of a website where speculative tour tickets and merchandise could be explored and purchased. The digital experience was intentionally designed to feel true to the time period, capturing the look and interaction style of mid-2000s web design. To push the concept further, the site was presented within the context of a time-relevant computer interface, reinforcing the idea of it as a period piece and immersing viewers in a nostalgic, era-accurate environment that complements In Rainbows.
